A court in Thiruvananthapuram has convicted Kerala MLA and former Transport Minister Antony Raju of tampering with evidence in a 1990 drug smuggling case. Raju, who was a junior lawyer at the time, represented an Australian national arrested with hashish concealed in his underwear. The case, which saw the accused initially convicted then acquitted by the High Court, was revived after a subsequent probe alleged Raju and a court clerk conspired to tamper with evidence. Sentencing is expected shortly.
