
During the 48th Kokborok Day rally in Agartala, around 40 tribal student activists affiliated with the Twipra Students' Federation were detained by police after raising placards in Roman script and protesting against the use of Bengali script placards in the government-led event. BJP MLA Ram Pada Jamatia condemned the disruption, while Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma criticized the use of Bengali script and expressed concern over the detentions, emphasizing the demand for a distinct script for Kokborok.
