French President Emmanuel Macron has ordered the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to move from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean to protect allied assets amid the ongoing Middle East conflict. The carrier will be escorted by its air wing and frigates. France has also deployed Rafale fighter jets, air-defense, and airborne radar systems in the region. Additional air-defense assets and the frigate Languedoc will support Cyprus, a European Union member recently partnered with France, following a strike on a British air base there.
