The Jharkhand government will assess the feasibility and land availability for establishing a new airport in Dhanbad, Transport Minister Deepak Birua stated. The existing Barwa Adda airport, categorized as 1B, cannot be upgraded due to limited space. Proposals include locations like Topchanchi and Baliapur, with over 100 acres reportedly available. The government will consult the Airports Authority regarding proximity rules, while an airport is also being developed in nearby Bokaro under the UDAN scheme.
