Former CPI(M) Leader Sudhakaran to Contest Ambalappuzha Seat with Congress Support

Former CPI(M) leader G. Sudhakaran will contest the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections from Ambalapuzha as an Independent. The Congress, after initial hesitation, has decided to support him by not fielding its own candidate, consulting with UDF partners. Sudhakaran stated he would not seek backing and would not campaign actively. CPI(M) has nominated H. Salam for the seat. SNDP Yogam leader Vellappally Natesan acknowledged Sudhakaran's local influence but withheld clear support.
