The Bombay High Court has stayed the Thane district collector's conflicting orders on political alliances in the Ambernath Municipal Council following the December 2025 elections. The collector initially recognised the Ambernath Vikas Aghadi (AVA), an alliance of BJP, Congress, NCP, and independents, but later de-recognised it in favor of a Shiv Sena-NCP alliance. The court directed the collector to hear all parties and issue a reasoned order, noting the frequent switching of allegiance by some NCP members described as "globetrotting."
