External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that India has the right to defend itself against terrorism from "bad neighbours" and will do so as it sees fit. He emphasized that good neighbourliness involves mutual respect and cooperation, contrasting it with persistent terrorism. Jaishankar also highlighted India's role in regional growth, noting that India's progress benefits its neighbours, and pointed to India's assistance during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic and economic stress in Sri Lanka.
