Government Upholds SIM-Binding Rules and Supreme Court Mandate on AGR Dues

Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia affirmed that the government will not extend or relax SIM-binding norms for OTT messaging apps, emphasizing national security over revenue concerns. The rules require web sessions to log out every six hours and apps to link to KYC-verified SIM cards. On Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues, Scindia stated the government will adhere to the Supreme Court's mandate, with no fresh relief beyond existing provisions. The Department of Telecommunications maintains compliance deadlines without extension.
