The Union finance ministry has released ₹601.92 crore to Himachal Pradesh for post-disaster relief and rescue operations following the 2023 monsoon season. This is the first installment of a total approved ₹1,504.80 crore, intended for compensation and reconstruction after floods, cloudbursts, and landslides. Himachal's minister Jagat Singh Negi criticized the delay, calling the aid a right and accusing the Centre of taking political credit while providing assistance in installments. Former CM Jai Ram Thakur stated the Centre has continuously provided aid.
