As the Assam Assembly elections approach, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is pressing its claim to contest from the Biswanath constituency. The party, which ceded the seat to ally BJP in 2016 and 2021, seeks to reclaim it, citing its historical presence and sacrifices in the region. AGP general secretary Prabin Hazarika expressed confidence in the party's organizational strength and readiness to contest, stating a positive signal from leadership. He ruled out contesting as an independent if denied a ticket, reaffirming loyalty to the AGP.
