
The Calcutta High Court expressed concern over repeated violence in Murshidabad's Beldanga area following the death of a local migrant worker in Jharkhand. The court directed the West Bengal government to ensure peace by effectively deploying central forces already stationed there and to prevent further unrest. It also allowed the central government to consider an NIA probe based on state reports. Multiple PILs, including one by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, highlighted alleged targeted attacks and questioned the adequacy of initial responses. The state government maintained that appropriate actions, including arrests and deployment of forces, were taken to restore order.
