Over 1 Lakh Mumbai Voters Choose NOTA in 2026 BMC Elections

In the 2026 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, over 1 lakh voters in Mumbai, representing 1.83% of the nearly 55 lakh votes cast, chose the 'None of the Above' (NOTA) option, indicating voter dissatisfaction. The western suburbs recorded the highest NOTA share at 1.9%, alongside the highest voter turnout. Other areas like the eastern suburbs and South Mumbai also saw notable NOTA votes, with ward 226 in South Mumbai having 5.1% NOTA votes. NOTA has been available on EVMs since 2013 following a Supreme Court directive.
