Andhra Pradesh is launching the "Great Green Wall" initiative to protect its 974 km coastline from cyclones, tsunamis, and erosion. This multi-layered defense plan aims to reduce wave energy and wind speed, safeguarding lives and infrastructure, particularly in vulnerable areas like the Krishna-Godavari delta. The project seeks to build a resilient, biodiverse, and economically strong coastal region, addressing threats like sea-level rise and saltwater intrusion that endanger over 3.3 million coastal residents and 282 villages.
