A South Korean court sentenced former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to 23 years in prison for his role in facilitating the December 2024 martial law declaration by ex-President Yoon Suk Yeol. The Seoul Central District Court found Han guilty of engaging in a key action of insurrection, including creating the appearance of a cabinet meeting and discussing plans to obstruct state institutions. Han denied most charges except partial perjury. The ruling can be appealed and marks the first conviction related to the martial law case.
