The Left Democratic Front (LDF) secured the presidency of the Erumely grama panchayat, with CPI(M) leader Ambily Sajeevan elected president. Despite the United Democratic Front (UDF) holding a majority, only nine members participated in the vote. The LDF received seven votes, the BJP two, and fourteen UDF members abstained. The presidency, reserved for a Scheduled Tribe (ST) member, was won by the LDF and NDA who each have one ST representative, a procedural advantage over the UDF which lacks any ST members.
