Election Commission Transfers Five District Election Officers Ahead of Assam Polls

Ahead of Assam's April 9 assembly elections, the Election Commission has transferred five District Election Officers (DEOs) from Kokrajhar, Majuli, Baksa, Chirang, and Udalguri, replacing Assam Civil Service officials with Indian Administrative Service officers from 2010 to 2021 batches. The EC requested the Assam chief secretary to provide names of IAS officers from these batches, citing dissatisfaction with some DEOs' performance. Votes will be counted on May 4.
