The demolitions, conducted to clear land for a waste processing unit, drew criticism from Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan as "bulldozer raj." Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated the relief is on humanitarian grounds, with eligible families to be allotted government-built flats, supported by state and central housing schemes and additional funding.
