A Union Environment Ministry panel has recommended environmental clearance for the 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II hydropower project on the Chenab River in Jammu and Kashmir. The project, estimated at over Rs 3,200 crore, is an extension of an existing facility and will utilize its infrastructure. This clearance comes as India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan following a terror attack. The panel noted the project aligns with the treaty's parameters, though the treaty itself is now suspended.
