Khaleda Zia, Bangladesh's three-time prime minister, died recently after a prolonged illness and was laid to rest with large public gatherings. Her political career included a period of two years spent in solitary confinement in Dhaka's Old Central Jail, beginning February 8, 2018, after a conviction in the Zia Orphanage Trust case. Zia denied the charges, calling them politically motivated. India's External Affairs Minister attended her funeral and met her son.
