A blast at a hotel in Kabul's Shahr-e-Naw district on January 19 killed at least seven people, including a Chinese national, and injured several others. The explosion occurred in a Chinese-run restaurant within the hotel, located in a commercial area considered one of the safest parts of the city. Authorities, including Kabul police and the Interior Ministry, are investigating the cause. No group has claimed responsibility, though attacks by Islamic State affiliates continue despite Taliban control since 2021.
