Masud released a video from Dubai refuting claims by Bangladeshi authorities that he fled to India after the December 12 shooting. He stated his meeting with Hadi was professional and that he left Bangladesh due to a false case, traveling to Dubai with a valid visa. Indian officials have denied Bangladesh's claims that Masud entered India.
