
Punjab will soon have a new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) as Sibin C, a 2005-batch IAS officer, is moving to central deputation as joint secretary in the Union ministry of health and family welfare. Sibin, who served nearly three years as CEO and oversaw the 2024 parliamentary polls, will have a five-year tenure. The Election Commission of India will select his replacement from a panel of three officers provided by the Punjab government. Key tasks for the new CEO will include electoral roll revision and preparing for the 2027 state assembly elections.
