Punjab Cabinet Approves Rs 68.50 Per Quintal Sugarcane Subsidy and Health Initiatives

The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, approved a Rs 68.50 per quintal direct subsidy for sugarcane farmers for the 2025-26 crushing season, supplementing the state's highest sugarcane price of Rs 416 per quintal. The government also sanctioned 1,000 additional yoga trainer posts under the 'CM di Yogshala' project with a Rs 35 crore budget for 2026-27. Other approvals include transferring several hospitals to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, urban land reforms, and collaboration with Japan's JICA for crop diversification and horticulture development.
