Himachal Pradesh to Hold Anti-Chitta Gram Sabhas and Awareness Campaigns in January

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced that 'anti-chitta' gram sabhas will be held in all panchayats on January 21-22 to review information on adulterated heroin (chitta) and discuss rehabilitation of affected youth. Officials will observe these meetings, which will include detailed mapping of chitta-related activities. The government is conducting statewide awareness campaigns and organizing sports tournaments to educate people. Measures include demolishing properties of smugglers and involving local groups in the campaign. Sukhu also plans to raise concerns about apple import duties with the central government to support local orchardists.
