Puducherry CM Seeks VP's Intervention for University Reservation

Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has requested Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, in his capacity as Chancellor of Pondicherry University, to intervene and implement a 25% reservation for Union Territory students. Rangasamy cited a 1997 decision and subsequent resolutions, noting that the reservation, initially for eight courses, was not extended to newer, job-oriented programs, causing discontent. The Puducherry Assembly and an academic council had previously recommended uniform reservation across all 64 courses.
