Ahead of the Assam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) has announced candidates for seven constituencies, including party president Pramod Boro contesting from Tamulpur. The UPPL has formally withdrawn from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), citing ideological differences with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and plans to contest all 15 seats in the Bodoland Territorial Region independently. The BJP has yet to clarify UPPL's alliance status, while the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) has been allocated a larger share of seats in the region by the BJP.
