On January 14, a federal law enforcement officer involved in an ICE operation in north Minneapolis shot a Venezuelan national in the leg after a violent confrontation. The individual fled a targeted traffic stop, crashed his vehicle, and resisted arrest on foot. During the struggle, two others joined in attacking the officer with a snow shovel and broom handle. The officer fired in self-defense, wounding the suspect. All three suspects were taken into custody, and the officer and wounded individual were hospitalized. This incident follows a recent fatal ICE shooting in the city and has drawn attention amid ongoing immigration enforcement tensions.
