Following a significant defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, a senior Congress leader, Shakeel Ahmad Khan, has suggested that the alliance with RJD has harmed the Congress and urged a reassessment. Khan claimed that Congress candidates unanimously conveyed this sentiment to the central leadership. The RJD, however, rejected these claims, stating that the decision to continue the alliance rests with the Congress. The Mahagathbandhan, including Congress and RJD, secured only 35 seats out of 243, with Congress winning six and RJD 25.
