Candidates with alleged criminal links have entered the fray for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) nominated individuals connected to known gang leaders, including relatives of Suryakant Andekar and the wife of gangster Gajanan Marne. Party officials defended the nominations, citing the family's political history and the alliance with the RPI. Some candidates, including those accused in a murder case, filed nominations while in jail, escorted by police.
