
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), established in 1976 to oversee Bengaluru's urban planning and development, has faced criticism for outdated master plans and limited success in managing the city's rapid growth. Its predecessor, the City Improvement Trust Board (CITB), contributed notable planned layouts but struggled with illegal developments. Recently, the BDA ceased to be the Local Planning Authority for Greater Bengaluru, replaced by the Greater Bengaluru Authority to enable more integrated city planning, while BDA retains authority over its original area.
