The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has approved a proposal by AIIMS Jammu to establish a state-of-the-art Forensic Institute in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir. This institute aims to enhance evidence collection, improve investigation and diagnosis in the health sector, and potentially increase conviction rates. Officials noted the region's sensitivity to terror and narco-terror crimes makes such a facility crucial for preparedness and addressing challenges posed by cross-border criminal activity.
