
Ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, AIADMK announced key welfare promises including a monthly cash assistance of Rs 2,000 to women heads of ration card-holding families under the Kulavilakku scheme, and free bus travel extended to men in city buses alongside existing benefits for women. The party also pledged free concrete housing for landless rural and urban families, increased rural employment guarantee days to 150, and subsidies for two-wheelers to five lakh women. The ruling DMK criticized these as duplications of its current schemes.
