Two Indian Air Force Pilots Killed in Sukhoi Su-30 MKI Crash in Assam

Two Indian Air Force pilots, Squadron Leader Anuj Vashisht and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar, died when their Sukhoi Su-30 MKI fighter jet crashed during a training mission in Assam's Karbi Anglong district on March 5, 2026. Duragkar, 28, had recently participated in Operation Sindoor and visited his family in Nagpur ten days prior. Vashisht, 33, was preparing for his wedding in Gurugram. The IAF confirmed the crash and expressed condolences, while officials and political leaders paid tribute to the pilots' service and sacrifice.
