Protests have intensified against the proposed construction of a stadium on five acres of the KSIC filature factory premises in T. Narsipura, Mysuru district, with around 1,040 employees from weaving units and the filature factory striking work. The filature factory is vital for producing raw silk used in GI-tagged Mysuru silk sarees. Environmentalists and citizen groups oppose the plan, citing ecological concerns. Civil works have been suspended pending government discussions, while the Mysore Grahakara Parishat plans to file a PIL if the proposal proceeds.
