A four-year-old male hippopotamus at Alipore Zoo has lost leg strength due to a neurological disorder, confining it to water for nearly three weeks. A medical board, including veterinarians from multiple zoos, is treating the animal. After considering a crane, the board opted for infrared physiotherapy to restore mobility, a treatment previously successful at the zoo for a sambar deer.
