Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are experiencing severe air pollution, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) rising sharply to 428 on January 17, 2026. In response, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) reimposed Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), enforcing strict measures including bans on construction, demolition, and entry of older vehicles. Dense fog and cold wave conditions have further reduced visibility, disrupting flights and transport. Earlier, Stage III restrictions were also applied as pollution worsened.
