The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has yet to resolve complaints about foul odors from garbage trucks across the city. Despite Mayor R. Priya's 2024 budget promise to procure fish nets for 102 tipper vehicles to prevent garbage spillage, residents argue that only fully enclosed trucks can effectively address the smell. Officials note that private companies managing 12 of 15 zones periodically update vehicles, but issues like daytime garbage loading and uncovered lorries persist, contributing to ongoing odor problems.
