Bird watchers expressed disappointment as the waterbird count along the Delhi stretch of the Yamuna River dipped significantly this December. Ornithologist TK Roy noted fewer species and smaller numbers of both resident and migratory birds, attributing the decline to factors like pollution from drains. Previous Asian Waterbird Census data from 2024 and 2025 showed higher species diversity and total bird counts on the same river stretch.
