A two-day synchronized wetland bird census was conducted across various districts in the central region, including Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Ariyalur, and Tiruvarur. The exercise, involving Forest Department staff, volunteers, and students, aimed to record bird species, assess wetland conditions, and support conservation efforts for resident and migratory birds. Tiruchi district's census at 20 wetland locations noted a high diversity of resident species, with over 180 participants involved in the broader regional effort.
