Madhya Pradesh High Court Seeks Response on Rising Tiger Deaths, SIT Formed

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notices to the Union and state governments, the National Tiger Conservation Authority, and the Ministry of Environment over a record 54 tiger deaths in 2025, the highest since Project Tiger began. Over half of these deaths were due to unnatural causes such as poaching, electrocution, and conflicts, with recent deaths reported in Bandhavgarh and Ratapani reserves. A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe these incidents amid concerns about forest surveillance and tiger trafficking allegations.
