Maradu municipality is implementing a mandatory waste management system for bulk generators, including hotels, malls, and hospitals, that produce over 100 kg of waste daily. This initiative aims to prevent waste dumping in water bodies and ensure proper disposal. Bulk generators will be required to use a designated private agency, selected by the municipality, and pay directly for its services. The decision follows frequent waste dumping incidents, addressing concerns that claimed waste disposal methods are insufficient for the volume generated.
