Several fatal and serious injuries linked to the banned Chinese manjha kite string have occurred across multiple Indian states during recent kite-flying festivals. Incidents include deaths from throat and neck cuts caused by the sharp string, with cases reported in Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have intensified enforcement, registering cases, seizing illegal strings, and involving community groups to curb use. The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to prevent manufacture, sale, and use of Chinese manjha to protect human and animal safety.
