Maharashtra Environment Department Begins Wetland Identification and Notification Process

The Maharashtra Environment and Climate Change Department has initiated the process to identify and notify wetlands across the state, including Mumbai and its suburbs, with assistance from a national research body. Following a survey completion, documentation and mapping are underway. Reports will be reviewed by relevant committees before public consultation and final notification by the state government, as revealed through an RTI filed by activist B N Kumar regarding Powai Lake and other wetlands.
