
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma launched the upgraded Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme 2.0, effective April 1, featuring stricter emergency care rules limiting treatment at non-empanelled hospitals to critical cases. The scheme offers up to Rs 5 lakh annually for cashless care at government and empanelled hospitals. The 2026-27 budget allocates Rs 130 crore, supplemented by Rs 26.42 crore from government employees and an over Rs 800 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank to support long-term sustainability. Registration is encouraged before April 15.
