The last road of India is the final stretch of National Highway 87, running from Rameswaram to Arichal Munai via Dhanushkodi in Tamil Nadu. This coastal route lies between the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean, ending at the southernmost accessible point of the mainland. The area is historically significant, linked to the Ramayana's Rama Setu legend, and Dhanushkodi was a thriving town until a 1964 cyclone destroyed it, leaving it abandoned today.
