UP Woman Conceives After Sterilisation, Health Department Initiates Inquiry

A woman in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly conceived about one and a half years after undergoing a tubectomy sterilisation procedure in March 2024. The health department has initiated an inquiry following her complaint after the community health centre allegedly refused to sign her sterilisation certificate. Officials noted that pregnancy after sterilisation occurs in one to two percent of cases and stated that compensation may be provided if eligibility is confirmed.
