
In Bahraich near Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary, a seven- to eight-year-old boy was fatally attacked by a leopard while playing outside his home. The animal dragged him into nearby fields before fleeing after villagers intervened. The boy was declared dead at a government hospital. The forest department has increased surveillance, deployed teams, and sought permission to install a cage to capture the leopard. Villagers expressed concerns over safety and frequent power cuts, while authorities provided financial aid to the family and urged caution during evening hours.
