MCD and Mumbai Railways Intensify Efforts to Clear Waste from Railway Tracks

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated a large-scale clean-up of railway tracks in the capital, clearing around 5,000 metric tonnes of waste with an estimated 10,000 metric tonnes remaining. The operation involves 145 vehicles and 800 workers, coordinated closely with railway authorities due to high train traffic and access challenges. The MCD aims to complete legacy waste removal within 10 days and plans to implement regular maintenance and public awareness measures to prevent future dumping. Separately, Mumbai's Central Railway reported collecting over 1.16 million muck bags along rail lines in 11 months, highlighting ongoing issues with waste dumping near illegal settlements and calling for government intervention.
