Delhi Expands PM-JAY Coverage to Include Widows and Persons with Disabilities

The Delhi government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has expanded the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) to include approximately 3.97 lakh widow pension beneficiaries and 1.31 lakh persons with disabilities, along with their families. This decision adds about 5.5 lakh families to the scheme, supplementing existing coverage for groups like Antyodaya Anna Yojana beneficiaries, senior citizens over 70, ASHA and Anganwadi workers. Over 7.2 lakh Ayushman cards have been issued in Delhi, with 208 hospitals empanelled for scheme implementation. The government aims to enhance health security and ensure no vulnerable citizen is denied medical treatment due to financial constraints.
