Five Students Expelled and Booked for Assaulting Assamese Student at MP University

A 22-year-old postgraduate student from Assam, Hiros Jyoti Das, was allegedly assaulted by five fellow students at Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) hostel in Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur district on January 13. The accused were expelled following a disciplinary committee meeting and booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police are investigating the incident, including whether racial motives were involved. The case follows recent concerns over attacks on Northeast students, including the death of a Tripura student in Dehradun.
